First announced at Google I/O in May 2026, Google is changing the way we interact with artificial intelligence through the rollout of "Gemini Spark."
Unlike traditional chatbots that require active prompting, Gemini Spark is an always-on personal AI agent designed to operate in the background, autonomously completing multi-step tasks across Google Workspace and connected third-party platforms.
Because Spark runs on Google's cloud servers utilizing dedicated virtual machines, users do not need to keep their laptops open or their mobile screens active to let the agent work.

Schedules: Trigger conditions that automate actions, like parsing an invoice the moment an email arrives.
Google has integrated Spark into the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing external apps like Canva, Dropbox, and Instacart to link into the system.
While currently limited to beta testers and Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States, the agent recently arrived on the macOS desktop app, letting users grant secure, folder-by-folder access to local file directories for advanced organization.
