Samsung’s new Galaxy Z8 foldable smartphone lineup has shattered long-standing pre-order records in South Korea, recording 1.44 million units booked within days of launch.
The impressive figures demonstrate that consumer enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology and redesigned form factors can overcome premium price points. Leading the charge, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 accounted for approximately 70 per cent of total orders, signaling strong market approval for its revised passport-style design.
The 1.44 million combined pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 eclipse previous flagship benchmarks set by the technology giant.

The Z8 series surpassed both the 2019 Galaxy Note 10 record of 1.38 million units and the Galaxy S26 series, which registered 1.35 million pre-orders earlier this year.
Industry experts view the performance as a decisive recovery for Samsung’s foldable segment following softer sales cycles in 2024.
According to figures reported by Yonhap News, the surge is largely attributed to the design evolution of the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 8. Moving away from the narrow aspect ratios of earlier generations, the new model features a shorter, wider footprint reminiscent of a traditional smartphone when folded.
Samsung stated that seven generations of foldable engineering combined with refined hardware aesthetics have successfully reignited demand across global markets.
