Leaked internal hardware specifications for Apple's upcoming second-generation ultra-thin smartphone, the iPhone Air 2, indicate five major performance and structural engineering upgrades aimed at setting new benchmarks in the slim smartphone sector.
According to technical analysis and industry supply chain reports, the iPhone Air 2 will shave its profile down to a remarkable 5.2 mm, compared to its predecessor's 5.6 mm.
The slimness is made possible by a newly re-engineered OLED panel that reduces thickness while improving power efficiency.
Underneath the hood, the device is slated to debut Apple's A20 Pro chip, built on an advanced 2nm architecture, paired with 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of internal storage.
To prevent thermal throttling in such a compact chassis, Apple is introducing a custom vapor chamber cooling system alongside its proprietary N2 wireless networking chip and C2 5G modem.
Camera enhancements include a dual 48 MP rear setup featuring a new 48 MP ultrawide lens and an upgraded 18 MP front-facing camera. The device will ship with a larger 3,500 mAh battery running on iOS 27.
"The iPhone Air 2 is expected to push the boundaries of thinness, measuring just 5.2 mm while introducing 2nm A20 Pro silicon and vapor chamber thermal management." — Tech Town Hardware Report
